SCM Supports Community, Arts and Culture by Presenting Big Band Swing Concert Live in Salt Lake City

A free Big Band Swing Concert at the Gallivan Center will kick off the Summer season on May 11, 2012. Salt Lake City law firm, Snow, Christensen & Martineau has joined Excellence in the Community to sponsor the 2012 Concert Series. Two bands – Crescent Super Band and Little Big Band —under the direction of internationally acclaimed band leader, Caleb Chapman, will perform at 7:30 p.m., at the outdoor stage on 239 South Main in Salt Lake City.

For a decade, Caleb Chapman has been turning heads with his professional bands made up of Salt Lake musicians age 14-18. From funk to fusion and soul to swing, Caleb’s bands have played at prestigious venues in Sweden, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, and Mexico. His bands have performed in most major cities in the United States.

The Crescent Super Band has impressed audiences worldwide. Their youthful energy and hip performances of American standard band pieces have pleased thousands.

The Little Big Band plays primarily America swing. It is perhaps the finest in its group. Donning Zoot Suits and fedoras the 22-piece big band thrills audiences with well-known favorites “In the Mood”, “Sing, Sing, Sing”, “American Patrol” and dozens more.

The 2012 Concert Series features excellent local musicians from various genres. It is free in part due to the generous support of Snow, Christensen & Martineau.
