In appreciation for the community, arts, and culture, Snow, Christensen & Martineau joins Excellence in the Community to present a cultural event for the entire family on Monday, August 27th starting at 7:30 p.m., at the Gallivan Center in Salt Lake City.  It is free and open to the public.  The upbeat music of Mariachi Sol de Jalisco and the Chilenos de Morelos dancers, donning their tall masks and colorful costumes, will get the audiences on their feet and dancing.  The talented artist, Carlos Fernandez, in his charro outfit, and Yunuen Carrillo will be singing, accompanied by the mariachi group.  The Fiesta would not be complete without the Ballet Folklórico de Las Americas performing traditional dances from the many various regions of México.

Mariachi Sol de Jalisco is an eight-member group that began more than 20 years ago in a small village in the state of Jalisco, Mexico.  There Jose Orozco taught his six small children how to play the violin, guitar, vihuela and other instruments.  The Chinelos de Morelos is a group of dancers who dress in character of “Huehuetzin,” a Nahuatl word meaning “person who dresses in old clothes.”  They revive the ancient tradition of wearing tall masks and beards and dance at carnivals to honor Lenten.  This tradition started back in 1870 in the state of Morelos, Mexico.  Also featured are dancers from the Ballet Folklórico de Las Americas, singer Carlos Fernandez who will sing songs from his idol, the famous Mexican singer Vicente Fernandez, and Yunuen Carrillo, with her own unique voice.
