We welcome applications from experienced attorneys who desire to make a lateral move. SCM is committed to providing an environment conducive to learning the skills necessary to provide superior lawyering to our clients. We take a long-term approach to developing associates and actively provide our attorneys with training, support, and exposure to many different areas of law.
Each associate at SCM is assigned a shareholder who oversees the associate’s progress. A strong emphasis is placed on these mentoring relationships to assist in the transition from law student to practitioner and from associate to shareholder. We believe in the value of timely feedback and provide comprehensive semi-annual evaluations of all associates during their first two years of practice and annual evaluations thereafter.

“My decision to leave an established Salt Lake City law firm after a 17+ year tenure, and make the move to SCM, was not something I took lightly. The overriding factor was the people at SCM. There are good and great attorneys in almost every law firm but the SCM difference is in the aggregate, not in the individuals. An attorney is only as good as the people with whom s/he surrounds themselves. The people at SCM make everyone – from the staff to paralegals, to attorneys – better. Now, after 2.5+ years at SCM, I can unequivocally assert that my reason for making the switch to SCM is a reality.” – Ruth A. Shapiro
“I joined SCM not only because of its reputation in the community but also because of the attorneys and staff I used to bump into in the lobby of our shared office building. They seemed to be happy, collegial, outgoing, and simply wonderful people. Since day one, I have felt like a part of the SCM team. For anyone that is a collegial and collaborative person, there is no better place to work than here.” – Robert B. Cummings
